A little more: We were a small farming community when The Fairfax Herald was founded - in 1882. Founded by Captain Stephen Roszel Donohoe, the Fairfax Herald was published weekly in Fairfax, Virginia, where it served as the area’s dominant newspaper for many years. William John Elvin served as editor of the Fairfax Herald from 1966-73, at which point the paper merged with the McLean Providence journal, Elvin’s primary publication, to form the McLean providence journal and Fairfax herald.
